As part of their Science topic, the Year 4 children recently had the 'Jaws and Claws' experience. The children were so engaged in learning all about the reptiles including: A Bull Frog, a Millipede, a Blue Tongued Skink, a Royal Phyton, some African Snails, some White Frogs and Two Tortoises. The children were allowed to touch and hold the creatures (they of course washed their hands afterwards!).
They learnt lots of interesting facts about where the creatures came from, what their habitats are like, what classifcation they are, which ones lay eggs and which ones give birth, plus many more.
The children really embraced the experience and had an amazing time handling the creatures. Even those children that were very tentative at first but managed to touch and even hold some of the reptiles were very brave and so proud of themselves!
