Year 1 - Spring Term 2 - Newsletter - 2026

Welcome back to Term 4! This term we will be continuing the fabulous topic of ‘Wonderful Nature’. However, this term we will be shifting our focus from plants and flowers to minibeasts. As well as identifying and grouping different types of minibeasts, we will be learning about David Attenborough and his global contributions to wildlife conservation, including the protection of minibeasts. We will also explore the positive impact his work has had, and continues to have on our planet.

In English this term, we will be using some beautiful picture books, including ‘The King of Tiny Things’ by Jeanne Willis and ‘Into the garden’ to inspire great adventures using our imaginations, as we shrink to the size of a minibeast and explore the Nature Garden. We will write our own stories based on our adventures!

During our Learning Journey afternoons, we will also be looking at the human body, findingout how we can keep ourselves healthy with a healthy diet, the importance of exercise and keeping our bodies clean.

As you know we introduced spellings this term which has been extremely successful. The children have really enjoyed the challenge and we have noticed this positively impact their writing. Thank you for all the support you have given to helping your children. Please continue to help them practise these as this REALLY does make a huge difference to their development as well as their confidence.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support.
