School Setting

West Rise Infant School and West Rise Junior School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, were opened in September 1975. Having undergone an exciting expansion programme in recent years. In May 2025 the Infant school almagamated with the Junior school to become West Rise Primary. We now have 630 pupils aged four to eleven on roll.  The school is housed in a light, modern and spacious building in amongst a beautiful expanse of green fields and delightful garden areas.

We are very fortunate to also have a wonderful purpose built nursery on our school site with an amazing outside learning area for the children.

The EYFS/KS1 & KS2 School buildings are connected via a walkway. Both buildings are beautifully designed with 21 classes all with access to the outdoors. EYFS/KS1 classes also have access to exciting creative learning spaces.  There are also two Learning Lodge's situated within the school grounds which are often used for small group learning. Please take at look at our 'Gallery page' for more beautiful pictures of our school.

Both schools each have a delightful, warm and welcoming school hall that serve as lunchtime dining areas and also as performing arts spaces.  Nutritious school meals are cooked onsite in our very own spacious and modern kitchen.  The school is also very fortunate to have a large purpose built 'Sports Hall' for P.E. lessons.

The school has wonderful surroundings with many beautiful and creative spaces for outside learning including Honeybee Garden for the EYFS/KS1 children so that they can explore, imagine and experience the many advantages of outside learning. Our popular Forest School also takes place at the back of the KS2 school field area.

Many beautiful objects and works of art adorn our school creating a wonderful array of sensory experiences for the children to enjoy.  Outside, these include a fairy garden, global artefacts, wind chimes and stunning fabric shimmering in the breeze.  It truly is a place of magical moments.
