Year 4 - Spring Term 2 - Newsletter -2026

Believe it or not, we are over half way through the year with hopefully only better weather ahead of us! We are looking forward to another exciting term involving “Jaws and Claws”, a trip to the marsh and World Book Day. In topic sessions, the children will be learning about the Battle of Hastings and in Science, we will be investigating living things including a fabulous trip to the marsh – hopefully the sunwill shine!

We have started reading ‘The Last Bear’, which will also be our English text. This will lead to poetry writing, letter writing and descriptive writing. In Book Week 3, we will have a visit by Jenny McLachlan (Author of The Land of Roar) and we will be offering parents the opportunity to see the work produced over the week on Thursday, 12thMarch.

In SPHERE, we will be learning about communities and addressing self-worth, as well as Internet safety – of course! In week 4, we will be creating a ‘Jumanji’- themed dance and playing hockey in P.E. Assessments are also taking place this week.

Please make a note that Forest school will be taking place on the following days, so please ensure your child comes to school wearing appropriate old clothing together with a bag containing wellington boots and a waterproof coat and trousers:

Tuesday, 10th March – Hazel

Wednesday, 11th March – Mulberry

Thursday, 12th March – Hawthorn

Fractions will be the main focus in Maths and please remember to practice TimesTables Rockstars in preparation for the MTC check in term 6 (you will have beensent a PING with all the details).
