Careers Day

KS2 was buzzing with excitement when we hosted our whole School career’s event.

The children had the fantastic opportunity to meet professionals from a wide range of industries, including engineers, a nurse, a graphic designer, local farmers (one of whom was a fantastic ex-student), as well as photographer, an electrician, local singers and a stained-glass designer. The highlight was having a tractor on the playground, in true West Rise style.

The children blew our visitors away; not just with their beautiful respectful behaviour but with their insightful questions, asking about everything from daily routines to overcoming challenges. The event has sparked brilliant classroom discussions about how our current learning in Maths, Science, and English links directly to the wider world.

Later on in the term, we have been lucky enough to be visited by our local Fire Brigade, thank you to Joe Lumby and his team for showing the Year3s some fire safety tips before shooting off to the next emergency call.
