Year Summer Term 1 2025

Welcome back –can you believe that it is the summer term already?!!

Our topic this term will be ‘Wonderful Nature’. The focus will be nature in our gardens,parks, and ponds. We will be looking closely at flowers and growing our own plants from seeds, and learning about what they need to become strong and healthy. In our Science lessons, we will be observing, identifying and classifying plants and mini beasts. We will also be looking at life cycles of frogs.

In Maths we are going to be learning all about counting in groups of 10, the value of 10s and 1s as well how we partition 2 digit numbers. Additionally we will be looking at making equal groups, moving on to make arrays. To keep things fresh in our minds, we will also keep refreshing our brains with all our previous learning of addition, subtraction and place value.

The children have been thoroughly enjoying using the Purple Mash online learning platform in school last term to learn all about coding. We will be carrying on with this,this term and incorporating ‘debugging’ too. Don’t forget you can access Purple Mash at home too. Each child has their own username and password stuck into the front of their reading record.

Finally, could we please remind you help your child practise their spellings, the more they practise, the more they remember and use these new words in their everyday writing.
