Reception Summer Term 2 - 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the final Summer Term. Goodness, hasn’t the year flown by? Your children have made wonderful progress and we are confident that by the time July arrives they will be more than ready to embark on the next stage of their school life. These seven weeks will be filled with lots of exciting learning experiences and fun!
Our topic for this term will be ‘Under the Sea’. The children will learn about water and sun safety, many interesting facts about sea animals and experience lots of fun interactive sea themed activities.
In Literacy, we will be reading lots of lovely story books such as ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister, ‘Sharing a Shell’ by Julia Donaldson and ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt. This term we will also be continuing to focus on developing our brilliant Phonics skills, by writing words, captions and sentences independently.
In Maths, we will continue with engaging practical Maths and Science investigations involving capacity and water. We will also be looking at odd and even numbers, doubling, sharing and repeating patterns, as well as lots of wonderful number songs.
As always, we love getting creative! Our featured artist this term is LS Lowry who was famous for painting beautiful seascapes and boats. We will be creating our own sea themed art work and salt dough fish inspired by his work.
Our PE this term will link closely to our Sport’s Day event where we will enjoy taking part in various activities within our classes and cheering on our friends.
Our Well being First curriculum is very much at the core as we prepare the children for their transition to Year One. Appreciation for all they have learned, gratitude for ’growing their brains’ and optimism and enthusiasm for what they are about to learn and experience in the future.
Thank you as always for all your support and for working in partnership with us.
The Reception Team.
