Nursery Autumn Term 1 2024
Firstly, a huge welcome to both our existing families and also to all our new families. We are very pleased that you have chosen West Rise Nursery to start your child’s learning journey and we look forward to working in partnership with you.
We would also like to say a big thank you to all of you for encouraging your children to come into nursery independently. This is a great start to teaching independence, which is an important life skill and they are all doing so well.
We have been spending the first few weeks getting to know each other and exploring the different areas of the nursery and what we can do there. To further support this, attached to this newsletter is a ‘Communication Passport’ and a ‘This is Marvelous Me’ information gathering sheet. We would be grateful if you could complete these documents and return them by Monday 30th September 2023.
Within the next couple of weeks we will let you know who your child’s ‘key person’ will be and invite you in to meet them and share and celebrate your child’s first few weeks at nursery.
We plan activities for learning through play using a mix of the children’s interests and our own adult led planning. The children will be enjoying many learning activities which will focus on ‘Marvellous Me’ and as Autumn arrives we will start to explore the wonderful changes of the season.
We will let you know what your children will be learning and ways in which you can support your child at home. This will be displayed termly, on the board outside Nursery.
The children will often be involved in ‘messy’ activities so please ensure that they are wearing practical clothes and not their best outfits. We also spend lots of time outdoors and also, when indoors, we will be having windows and doors open, so we ask that you send your child in with a jumper or cardigan and a warm coat as and when the weather gets colder. Also, as mentioned during your induction meetings, please can you send your child in with a named pair of slippers and wellies. Can you also ensure you have named your child’s lunch box. For pre-school children who attend whole day sessions, school dinners are available, please contact Caroline for more details.
Caroline will try to be available as much as possible for a quick catch-up at either drop off or collection, however if you miss her and have any queries or concerns, please feel free to email her at the following address: ccroft@westriseinf.e-sussex,sch.uk
We would like to thank you all for your continued support.
